Scope and browser storage

This policy describes PeakMap.org’s map companion. Your found markers and layer preferences are saved in browser local storage. They are used to restore your own checklist and filter settings, and are not automatically sent as correction reports.

The app retains at most 12 map contexts for up to 90 days, pruning expired entries when storage is read or updated. Clear all local data removes the app’s progress and preferences immediately. You can also remove site data through your browser settings.

Reports and external services

The report tool prepares text in your browser. Copy diagnostic details copies that text to your clipboard. An email draft is handled by your chosen email application; you decide whether to send it. Avoid including sensitive personal information.

When you follow an external source link, that service handles the request under its own policy. Serving this website also involves ordinary network requests, which may reveal connection information to the service delivering the page.

When analytics is enabled, public pages load Google's Analytics tag to measure page visits and usage. The tag sends analytics data to Google and may use cookies. This site's map progress and report text are not submitted as custom analytics events.

Your choices and family privacy

You can use the map without marking locations found. If your browser prevents storage, progress works for the current session and a notice explains that it cannot be saved.

Parents or guardians can use the contact page to request review of information a child may have sent. Do not include a child’s personal details in a map report.
